Hello, I recently got a tidbyt before moving to college. I tried it at home and it worked well. However, now that I’m in my apartment (thus the WiFi has changed), my tidbyt has been stuck on connecting. Removing the device doesn’t work and I am unable to re-pair it to my phone.
There is a reset button on the back. Hold it down for about 10 seconds while powering up and it should reset to factory and allow you to reconnect via the app. Also make sure your new WiFi has 2.4Ghz frequency because tidbyt doesn’t work on on 5Ghz.
I tried following the instructions provided by Tavis multiple times. Each time, I get an error message saying the following:
“Your Tidbyt device is connected to the internet, but couldn’t reach our servers. This could be a temporary error. Please try again in a minute or two.”
I have also tried deleting the mobile app and re-installing it. The same error message shows after attempting to connect. Any other suggestions?
Are you in an environment where a login is required to use the wifi ? (dormitory)
If you can’t get anything to work then you can always jump ship and flash new firmware.
I am in my home. Our wifi does require a password, but it’s not a complicated one (not rolling or encrypted). If I’m not able to connect to my Tidbyt device, how can I flash new firmware?
Are you sure you don’t have some firewall blocking ports 1883/8883 ?
You can flash firmware by directly connecting the Tidbyt to a computer with the USB cable.
