On the shop page there’s mention of reusing Tidbyt hardware for other projects. I’m wondering if anybody has actually done this? Given that the tidbyt can’t actually run apps on it directly, but I love the aesthetic of the display, I am wondering how much work it could be to take out the insides and replace it with a raspberry pi using the same display. What would I be looking at in terms of hardware, connections, etc?
The display is a HUB75. The display has a nice little connector to the main board so it should be pretty easy to reconnect it to a raspberry pi if you had the right socket. Search for raspberrypi hub75 projects and you’ll probably find some. See the photo there are two connectors from the display to the controller. The data ribbon cable and the red and black power wires.
