Isn’t their server or whatever hosting the jpegs and gifs I’m using? And the apps? If that’s true, I guess when they go out of business my Tidbyt becomes useless.

If you don’t want to use their servers (or they no longer exist), you can use something like pixbyt to push updates to the display from your own server.
The Discord is fairly active; it may be a better place to ask a question than here if you need a quick response.
Pixbyt just renders the images locally, but the results are still pushed to Tidbyt’s servers where the devices subscribe for updates. If this service is no longer available, we’d need a custom firmware.
